Naveed Sheikh, 31, was arrested when entering the country on Tuesday at Washington Dulles International Airport. He had fled to Pakistan shortly before the grand jury indictment was released on Jan. 13, according to the federal prosecutor’s office.

Sheikh is charged with one count of advertising and selling pirated software. He is currently being held in Virginia, pending a Feb. 3 detention hearing, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

According to the indictment, between February 2004 and April 2008, Sheikh received more than $265,000 for copying and distributing millions of dollars worth of pirated software through a website, ezencode.com. The software that was allegedly pirated includes versions of Microsoft Money, Adobe After Effects, Quicken Premier and Apple iLife.

According to the indictment, Sheikh used various addresses during that time, including in the 3100 block of Nova Scotia Road in Bel Air, the unit block of Pickburn Court in Cockeysville and the 900 block of Fairmount Avenue in Baltimore.

According to the indictment, Sheikh allowed buyers to either download pirated software or order a burned disc with the software and crack codes. Sheikh allegedly told buyers to send money orders to a mailbox address at the Glen Eagles Court post office in Towson, according to the indictment.

Prosecutors want Sheikh, if convicted, to forfeit the alleged $265,000 in proceeds or any property bought with the proceeds. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

Officers from Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties fatally shot a man whom they suspect stole a police cruiser from an officer he allegedly threatened to shoot and later led police on a chase in another vehicle, authorities said Tuesday.

Police said that early Tuesday, the driver of a car operating without its headlights on refused to stop for two Baltimore County officers about 10 minutes apart. In this case, the risk of a pursuit outweighed the severity of the infraction, police said. The car later crashed at the Baltimore Beltway exit to Interstate 95.

The English Premier League team is eyeing a three-city U.S. tour, with Baltimore and Los Angeles among the cities poised to host games, said Diane Pelkey, an Under Armour Incspokeswoman. Under Armour, the Baltimore sportswear maker, is in a multi year deal to provide jerseys and other team apparel to the London-based soccer team.

A schedule has not been finalized, Pelkey said. Tottenham’s opponents, too, have not been determined.

Tottenham officials declined to comment. Mark Burdett, vice president of corporate sales and development for the Baltimore Ravens, M&T Bank Stadium’s primary tenant, declined to comment.

Ravens President Dick Cass has said the team wants to bring international soccer back to the stadium in 2012 after not hosting a game in 2011. International soccer exhibitions were played at the 71,000-seat M&T Bank Stadium in 2009 and 2010.

Chelsea and A.C. Milan squared off in a sold-out game in 2009, and Inter Milan and Manchester City played to a crowd of around 35,000 fans a year later.

Tottenham is currently in third place of the EPL.

O’Malley’s proposed fiscal year 2013 budget includes shifting $240 million in teacher pension costs to local governments. After accounting for more than $244 million in so-called offsets that O’Malley said would soften the blow, Baltimore County would still have to cover about $1.8 million in costs as a result, according to a Maryland Department of Budget and Management document released at the request of Patch.

Citizen tips have led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Chesterfield Township man who investigators say broke into The Country Inn early Tuesday morning.

New Baltimore Police Chief Tim Wiley said several tips came in following the release Tuesday afternoon of restaurant surveillance images to the media.

“Detectives from the New Baltimore Police Department, in conjunction with Chesterfield Township Police Department, conducted a search warrant earlier today on a residence in Chesterfield Township and took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect has now been linked to two break-ins in Chesterfield Township as well as the break-in at the Country Inn Restaurant,” Wiley said in Wednesday evening news release.

The unidentified suspect is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in 42-2 District Court on charges pertaining to the robberies in Chesterfield and New Baltimore.

The Country Inn robbery took place at 5:45 a.m. when the restaurant was closed and empty. The suspect, who was captured on video surveillance, smashed the front entry glass with what appears to be a shovel or spade and climbed into the business through the doors. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police released video images of the crime soon after in effort to identify the thief.

None of the patients has life-threatening injuries, said Batton, a police spokeswoman. Two people in the tractor-trailer were not hurt.

The accident took place shortly before noon near the Providence Road exit, forcing police to shut down the inner loop, or eastbound side, of the highway at that exit minutes later. The left lane of the inner loop was reopened about two hours later, but traffic remained heavy and police urged motorists to avoid the area.

In a news release, Batton said a preliminary investigation showed that the officer was merging onto I-695 from Providence Road when his vehicle was struck by the tractor-trailer. The officer’s car crossed all lanes of traffic and struck the jersey wall. Batton did not describe how the Jeep was involved in the accident.

The officer was flown by State Police Medevac to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
